We offer hourly global rainfall maps in near real time (about four hours after observation) using the combined MW-IR algorithm with GPM-Core GMI, TRMM TMI, GCOM-W AMSR2, DMSP series SSMIS, NOAA series AMSU, MetOp series AMSU and Geostationary IR data. Background cloud images are globally merged IR data produced by NOAA Climate Prediction Center (CPC), using IR data observed by JMA's MTSAT satellite, NOAA's GOES satellites and EUMETSAT's Meteosat satellites.
To use data, user registration is needed. Following products will be available after it.
Since November 2, data of the realtime version (GSMaP_NOW) over the Geostationary satellite "Himawari" area, whose browse images are available from the "Realtime Rainfall Watch" web site, are also available.
Currently, JAXA conducts joint researches with following organizations to develop and improve the GSMaP algorithms.
Validation of the GSMaP product at each region are included in intercomparison activities of satellite precipitation products, which is promoted by the International Precipitation Working Group (http://www.isac.cnr.it/~ipwg/).
For more details about this web site and GSMaP, please read Users Guide.
