AMSR-E
Variations of sea surface temperature and sea ice concentration around the South Pole observed by AMSR-E (July to December 2002: Animation)
This animation shows variations of 3-day running mean sea surface temperature (SST) and daily mean sea ice concentration (SIC) over the Antarctic region observed by AMSR-E from July 1 to December 31, 2002.SST and SIC variations from winter to summer in Southern Hemisphere are clearly shown. Note that the word "NO DATA" displayed in images indicates there was no observation by AMSR-E in that day.

AMSR-E
Variation of sea ice concentration around the South Pole (Jul. 2002 - Dec. 2002: animation)
JAXA has produced the animations by AMSR-E datas of mean daily sea ice concentrations for both the Arctic and Antarctic regions in the period of July to December in 2002. The sea ice cover in the Arctic Sea is extending, hoewever, in the Antarctic, it is extending toward the winter in the months of June to August and is decreasing after september. In addition, the accuracy of sea ice concentration is being validated now.
